Hey Saint, I was reading through some older threads and your question inspired me to seek more feedback and suggestions from you guys for our community. Tell me more about your idea to create your own blogs. I haven't seen that done before on an MMO site, but it's an interesting idea.

For the group function, we're giving that some thought. My only concerns at the moment are losing you guys from our core forum to private groups. Your contributions are awesome and I really think we need them in the community. We were talking about groups the other day, and I think it might be a nice feature for player associations. If we implement it, it'd be after we update the website a bit.

I would prefer not to have groups, there could end up being groups of "awesome people" (everybody who isn't an absolute tw@) and the few people who are left out would get hell upset and complain. We should do things that decrease forum discrimination rather then promote it. I also think on MMORPG.com people can make there own blogs, either that or they have lots of loud mouth staff with ridiculous uneducated opinions. I know the I hate MMO's guy has one, but maybe you need atleast your own website or something to make a blog there.

In our game, you are just another citizen of the world, and becoming a hero is something you achieve through your own actions, and something you earn. We provide the world, and the opportunities, while you write your own story - Dave Belcher

Well khaiyne I hugely appreciate my short notice has some sort of inspired you . Well I was thinking about people who are really active giving them an option to post maybe some lore (this could work well with the last contest). Or let people explain their guild in a blog post Of coarse all blog post will be monitored so there spammy ones can be removed but it could applied in many ways. Some people who like to write and write good let them have a blog every two weeks and some people who can draw really good let them make fan lore so that we have fresh community content every week. Of coarse the downside to this is that it could mix up with the real lore and people can get confused but it also be a really good addition. Also letting people pay with gold to write stuff or show stuff could actually be a useful way to spend gold

On groups, this is not for now but maybe later when there actually are big guilds who would like to donate a little sum to get their own group on the site or they pay it with gold. So let's say 500 gold for a group on the website. Let people come up with more suggestions.

Also: The Inn to chill an chatter with people would cool. It could make this game a lot more viral when there actually is content to do and keep us busy while the devs work on the bigger picture. The Inn actually doesn't really have to be a game environment a chatbox with games where people can gamble chat and maybe do something with their gold could actually keep more people active and it will help to sustain the community and the developers.

Forum titles are a fun way to give people some more recognition for their help to the community but this is also something for later when the game has further progressed.

These are some vague ideas that might need a lot of polishing but I think we can do something like this as a mature community or at least until the trolls and wowkids arrive.

Also letting new community members first make a welcome post before they are allowed to post somewhere else would be a good idea so we can keep track of our new active members and well we all love welcome post so why not. This is also a good way to keep track of bots of spammers due the fact they will have to post in the community welcome section before they can infest the whole forum so mods can clean it before it becomes worse.

Forcing people to make welcome posts is counter productive.

Would it be possible if some of the threads in the Q&A and Dev Announcements sections, where devs have answered questions or made comments got moved to their respective area in the Gameplay part of the forum, eg a magic related question thread with an answer gets moved to the Magic sub-forum.

Just to make looking for info a bit easier as it is currently spread around a fair bit.

edit: realising that a lot of the answers given are only indications or part-answers at the moment.

How do you mean? People make a small thread and can go loose how is that counter productive? Most people do it anyway.

Aye, it would be nice if there was a seperate and locked forum section with moved/copied answers made by devs in regards to the game. This way it will be easy and quick to find related dev answers instead of digging through tons of already made threads. Example - in some random thread, community member asks Developers if there will be flying pink unicorns and Developer answers "Yes, we will have pink flying un icorns". The question and answer would be moved to Q&A forum section.

It's counter productive because forcing people to make threads will lead some to not make any threads. Some people are more subtle or simple less involved and want to only occassionally post in specific topics, and stay in the background. Forcing them to make introduction thread before they can post anywhere else is radical and controling.
