Please tell me no names above peoples head either? What use is it to hide in terrain when your giant name broadcasts you are there.

Whoa now, not so hasty Slash

We have not yet set in stone exactly how character names/tags etc will be displayed, or where, though the team largely agrees that something must be done to prevent tons of names floating around everyone's heads all over and destroying immersion. We also dont want to see people trying to hide in bushes, with a big floating name over it giving it away.
We do have some very nice ideas in this area, but now is not the time to release them

I just thought of something...no one wants instant invisibility, but what about magic which would affect other players in such away as to make them not see you by other means? The idea of 'stuns' affecting only the player's screen but not their character so much has been tossed around I know, so what about invisibility doing the same thing? Once casts a certain spell, and makes it so for a second or two no one can look directly at them. Either completely off the screen, or only allowed about 10% of the way on, something like that, with 'willpower' or whathaveyou countering? So you are walking and your head is shunted one way suddenly. You know that someone is there, but can't see them precisely for a second or two as you regain control.

Sounds like it'd be very difficult to control, and I think could be highly abused in pvp situations. Since you just use that ability, have everyone in front of you, then nobody can look at the people coming at them either.

The idea was to have it last perhaps one second at most, basically enough to just turn them for a second. Perhaps can only affect a limited number of people, since you have to try and 'mind control' them at the same time. so 5 people for .1 second, 4 people for .2, 3 for .4, 2 for.8, 1 for...1.
Edit: It would also make sense to be resistant to this treatment afterward, due to your increased focus.
Edit 2: Also, perhaps could only be used on unaware opponents, however that is determined.Last edited by Thradok; 2nd September 2011 at 09:23 PM.

Yes. Wrong thread, really. In this case, I like the your variable based chameleon effect idea, with multiple sources contributing to the final, not perfect, outcome.
