It is that potential for loss that makes it meaningful to me and a lot of other players.

I have no illusions about DF being on the same level of what is planned for EoC, but I take offense to people who chalk up the PvP and Guild v Guild fighting in Darkfall to being some sort of deathmatch FPS. AV strayed pretty far from what they originally planned and promised for the game, but all forms of PvP in Darkfall still have a lot of meaning.

We constantly raid clans to test their combat ability and to disrupt their gear farming and crafting, those raids can drive clans into alliances with each other, and then those alliances can in turn siege the people who have been raiding them. Sieges can bring further implications in terms of new alliances and mercenaries, and then in an actual battle you can lose extremely valuable gear, lose entire cities, and have your entire clan demoralized.

    I understand.

It's just that for me personally it's not enough and I really am sorry, that AV did not fulfill their many promises and plans about how Darkfall was supposed to be. Otherwise it would be a truly epic MMO.

Who knows, if it will happen that my prediction is wrong and lessening of the grind will eventually attract "a lot" (imho 7.000+ actives at the peak time would be just great) of players to my server (EU) I guess I would come back even for that "meaningless pvp" since even "meaningless pvp" gains a meaning when there are a lot of people involved. That's the reason why hollowness of DF was revealed only after the majority of playerbase left the game dismayed by AV's lack of competence and broken promises more than just an insane grind.

    Indeed.

What it ultimately comes down to is that there is no other open-PvP, full-loot, territory control, twitch-based MMO on the market. I hate AV, and a lot of the times I'm frustrated when I think of what Darkfall could have been, but there is really no alternative except not playing MMO's for someone like me who needs that sort of competitive twitch based MMO.
