Ever insult the PvP in a free to play MMORPG saying it takes little to no skill? Well then you probably have noticed this. They will always use come backs such as, "Hurr durr u jst sck nub hurr durr" or "Well it takes skill to build your character properly." I find it quite funny listening to them claim how much skill it takes to mash a few buttons to get to the maximum level and then mash some buttons to kill people.
My typical response to this ends up like this, "Have you ever played any sort of RPG or any sort of game that takes actual skill other than these run of the mill MMORPGs that breed faster than rabbits?" and at which point I shouldn't post what they say because they rage so much.
Two questions, could any of you ever possibly agree with them? And is it wrong that I find it so entertaining to do this?

It's...a different type of skill I think, the pvp in a typical tab target and predetermined class mmo. A lesser form of skill from way up here on my high horse though

I mean, you still need to get proper targeting order, manage groups with different types of character builds, be getting out your buff/debuffs/heals/whatever, and all that stuff, but still...it's not quite the same once you've gone for a non tab target game.

Of course they hate on you. By saying the pvp in their game requires (almost) no skill you pose a threat to those pvpers' ego! Red alert, battle stations!
Is it wrong? Not necessarily. Are your claims usually based on solid ground or do you state that just to annoy them? Don't get me wrong, I can certainly understand why it's entertaining
But from experience, I'd personally go with the "different kind of skill" approach first, twitch-based vs. tactical vs. strategic vs. "push many buttons as quick as possible" vs. whatever, adding a few dimensions here and there.

The bottom line is what game you are referring to, as there are MMOs which are essentially based on who has "highest leveled and best equipped character" and there are MMOs where equipment and character development will obviously be an advantage, but player skill will still be equally dominant force.
There isn't MMO on the market that provides pure skill PvP with no character development impact on competitive superiority.

Define "skills".

Sunshine
Every game takes certain skills to be good. Perhaps your definition of player skill excludes skills of a chess player.

I understand where you are coming from in regards to the tab targeting pvp requireing "no skill." But the simple fact of the matter is that it does. You need to be aware of your opponents weaknesses and strengths, you need to be able to coordinate your team well, there are a number of things. And like the previous poster said, does that mean chess requires no skill? (was thinking the exact same thing when reading the OP).
