Also, what will the advantages and disadvantages of doing so and not doing so be?

Will we need to sleep, and if so, what will we do whilst we are?

I can't be certain but I seem to remember one of the devs touching on this subject a while back. I want to say it was Dave but we all know how my "grey matter" is these days.

I'd certainly be interested in hearing of the advantages/disadvantages involved but I'm guessing that might be one of the systems that we can't hear about just yet.
PS - If it's already been brought up then forgive me...as I've said before, I'm gettin' older so the ol' grey matter's gettin' a little clogged and forgetful.

Sleep/rest will be necessary, but I can't divulge exactly how or what it will effect at this point and time. We have a few options we're looking at how to handle the rest/sleep mechanics, but again, can't really discuss it.
I can however tell you our goals. We want resting to be something that is necessary so that when a character is forced into situations where they can not rest there is a negative effect from that situation. For example (theoretical only), besieging a keep the attackers may attempt to win by attrition, cutting off supplies, and depriving the defenders of chances to rest by sending waves of attacks around the clock, which would obviously weaken the defender and increase the attackers chances of success.
However, we need to be careful so that it's not so intrusive of a system that players find themselves hating that they have to stop and camp, or rest, or that their play time is interrupted, cut short, or otherwise negatively impacted.
As you can see, it's a bit of a balancing act.

please see xsyon for poorly implimented sleep/hunger/thirst mechanics.
it is just ANNOYING.
I guess i'd just ask/state...make sure the mechanics actually add something to gameplay and arent just some mundane hurdle that we have to deal with.
