I think that the amount of power a disciple has available should be based off of his faith. the faith would be based off of how well he follows the religeon. How well you follow the religeon is based on following the rules of the religeon.
But I also think that if the rules a religeon has are more restrciting you need greater faith to follow them. as such more restrictions means more power to the disciple.
heres an example. two religeons with threads based on plant life. A religeon with no rules would be able to make a single plants growth rate increase. While a relegion with rules like: do not do violance [ie no killing, no punching], do not eat the flesh of animals and do not eat plant flesh that has been harmed [apples falling off trees are fine, but if you dig up the roots and kill the plant thats a no], eat only natural foods [no farmed foods], you msut bless the ground where you sleep [spells designed to help the life stay alive with your disturbance], you must bless food that you eat, you must live in the natural world [no cities, no houses, no farms. ] etc. would be able to grow an entire forest in an instant. Though it might require a three day ritual or something for that power, it should still be possible. Though the limits should be balanced with the power until eventually it would be impossible to do something without breaking a rule therefore limiting the power.
Most relegions should find a balance between power and restrictions. With a few rp fanatics like the nature thing or a guild of assasin priests. Of course a player could still eat meat and be a disciple of that nature one, but they'd have even less power than following a religeon with no rules.
Though to be able to get the full benefit of a system like this would mean that players would need to be able to create their own religeons. So hoefuly the planned god creation system will be in.

Lol, you make it almost sound that religion is harder to follow then the magic path. But I agree there should be rules for a disciple to follow. It is a bit early to make conclusions like that but it could be a fine suggestion.

Good idea! Maybe the leaders of the religion can pick from a list of restrictions (each one with a certain value depending on how hard it is to follow the rule)
and increase the power of their disciples that way.
Funny thing actually that religion is so often about making your life harder with a bunch of rules...

It'd be up to who created the religeon and if players are willing to follow the rules. But I see most religeons not haveing too many rules. If there are any harder to follow than a magi I wonder if there power would match a magis. they'd still be limited to a couple of threads. So even a magi with abilities weaker than theres would still have much more versatility then them.Lol, you make it almost sound that religion is harder to follow then the magic path. so there'd be a point where maybe being a magi would be better than being a disciple, but that point should take a long time to reach.

I think a certain amount of deities are being pre made since it has to match with the beginning lore and more will enter the game over time so the devs will make the rules and when no one believes in one god any more it will fade. So rules are pre-set and disciples will have an easier life then magi.
