This could be problematic... people could wait or let someone loot their own kill only to get this amplified attack on them.[/quote:1tcctzty]

How is that a bad thing? I was under the impression that you guys were designing a realistic, cut-throat world! This resulting potential for ambush and/or betrayal is what an economist would likely refer to as a "positive externality".

I can think of a number of evil bastards who are probably salivating at the thought of watching a corpse from the bushes or turning on a fellow traveler. Essentially, playing the time honored role of the highwayman. The saying "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" comes to mind except, in this case, DO look it directly in the mouth, stay the hell away from it, and perhaps stab it a few times just to be safe.

I'd simply suggest to those potential victims that they not go off into the woods with someone they do not trust.[/quote:1tcctzty]

Ahhh! 1st I was with Rob and then I read your post! I'm sooo confused. So many possibilities. At this point I can't decide. While it would be unfair, we do want realistic. The world is a cruel place...life's not fair and all that jazz.

    Re: Looting

I heard about ambushes so I like it.
    - But Seņor Anconia, what will happen to this world?
    - Just precisely what it deserves.

    Re: Looting

I like the idea very much so long as the actual looting of objects don't take forever to loot each item
So the longest part is the opening the bag

It depends... I want to spend my time killing stuff, not looting it.

    Re: Looting

Are we going to be able to have real loot and not the stupid carcass bullshit MO does. I don't mean an epic magic item dropping from a boar. But if I kill an orc that has armor and weapons the ork should drop that.

    Hi there pockets, and welcome.

The intent is exactly that, things you kill should drop what they are carrying. I can't go into the design of it right now, but ultimately NPC's should really be just like player, but controlled by AI. I mean, wouldn't it make sense that the NPC should drop what he is wearing/carrying when he dies? Probably about as much sense as an NPC taking some of your gear if its better than their own, to get an upgrade...

But, as I said I can't discuss the system yet, and dont want to make promises, but I think you will like what we have planned (so long as it is technically feasable).
