Firefly universe online are accepting Alpha signups for a 20$ fee

I'm still trying to find out the perspective, and fox are yet to get back to them despite their best efforts, but it definitely sounds promising.

Just to clarify, you're paying to become a DChero, who as such is granted beta access to all games which are part of that company, including Firefly Universe Online. Also, the game will launch in some form or another, so if fox starts grumbling in my opinion they'll most likely change the name/characters and keep the premise, as attested by this:
As someone who is a social media specialist, writer, and aspiring CM, I find your sandbox release interesting. My only concern is - if something happens to the game and it does not come to print (9 months is a long time), will we get refunds? (Also, why do you guys not have Twitter yet?)

Seems like the only thing the game has going for it is the IP (which they don't actually have the rights to). And even that seems like a huge invitation for a lawsuit.

Though I do agree with Kirk, the video was pretty hilarious.

How are they selling access to a alpha or beta (whatever it's in) without having the rights to make the game yet? Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

From my understanding they are still waiting to hear back from fox for the permissions. I'm just wondering if they will be refunding everyone's money if Fox says no and smashes the whole thing. It is one thing to create something as a fan and make it available for free but it is illegal to recreate something that has copyright and sell it.

I am not yet so interested in this game but I am keeping my eye on it I might try it when it gets into open beta.
